Myth 1 – 60% of everything you put on your skin ends up in your bloodstream

This is one interesting finding across the internet. Why do we think it’s incorrect and one of the worst myths? You hear them. Everything you put on your skin, ends up in your bloodstream. Well, if that’s true, we would end up with inflated bags of water every time we shower, right?

The reality is that between 0% – 100% of what you apply to your skin can end up in your bloodstream. You just can’t put a definite figure on this.

In general, it truly depends on your cosmetic product’s ingredients, the delivery mechanism and your overall health of your skin condition plus the environment. Carrier oils generally won’t go further than your epidermis and essential oils can penetrate through inhalation.
